My mother passed away on July 27, 2022. Below is the obituary. My mother had dementia/alzheimer's for a while, so she was didn't really understand what was going on around her towards the end.
Patsy B. McClure, age 89, of Knoxville passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 27. Born June 21, 1933 to Bryan and Mildred Blakemore in Jonesville, Virginia, Patsy was very proud to have grown up there, and to have played basketball on the Jonesville High School team “which beat all comers”! She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Nursing. Patsy took great pride in teaching nursing at Fort Sanders Hospital; she received awards for teaching excellency during her 40+ year career. She was also a member of the Knox County Jail inspection team. She enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of the “9 Hole Lady Golfers” at Cherokee Country Club. In addition to her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by her brothers, Ben and Joe Blakemore, and her sister Jacqueline Blakemore. She is survived by her loving husband of 50+ years Wallace McClure; son and daughter-in-law, Wallace “Wally” and Ronda McClure; grandchildren, Kristen L. McClure and Bradley W. McClure; sister, Nedaline Crumley; nieces, Madeline Darlene Miller, Youngstown, OH, Pam Blakemore, Jonesville, VA, Tammy Hall, Atlanta, GA; nephew, Ben Blakemore, Jonesville, VA, and several great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Judith Osborne who provided care to Patsy during the past six months. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, August 12, Rose Funeral and Cremation. Please Note: Face masks are required for all attending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Patsy McClure to the College of Nursing, Tennessee Wesleyan University, 204 E.
